What is Love Island?

It was announced on 13 February 2015 that Love Island will return and be shown on ITV2. The show should not include actors but would include members of the public. Caroline Flack was confirmed to host the show on 18 April 2015.

On 7 June 2015, it finally returned, showing the new Islanders in the villa with a live special. During the show, several visitors, including Calum Best, who was one of the Islanders from 2005, came to the villa and won the series. In this show DJing for Lauren Richardson’s birthday party, Mark Wright also made a guest appearance. The race was won by Jess Hayes and Max Morley on 15 July 2015. The first couple from the series to have a baby together were Islanders Cally Jane Beech and Luis Morrison.

On 14 February 2016, the second series was announced and premiered on 30 May 2016. The first Islander to be taken from the villa was included in this film. After an altercation with Kady McDermott Malia Arkian had only spent several hours in the villa before she was pulled off the show by the writers. A number of Islanders, Rykard Jenkins being the first to leave the villa willingly, were also included.

Islander Zara Holland was stripped from her title Miss Great England because of her conduct at the villa during the season, too. Sophie Gradon and Katie Salmon were also included in the second series and were the first same-sex couple in the show. Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey finally won the series on 11 July 2016. Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen were married on 15 September 2018 and became love island’s first married couple.

On 14 February 2017, the third series was announced and began to air on 5 June 2017. This show was the first to include a second villa, which was added during a twist to test the couples in the sequence.

The dropped Islanders Mike Thalassitis and Sam Gowland was also included in this series after the public voted back in; the first for the channel. The show was concluded by Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay on 24 July 2017. During the last Aftersun episode in the season, which was broadcast live from outside the villa, a one-off gathering, which included all Islanders in this show, was revealed on 30 July 2017.

What is Love Island Winter?

A ‘Winter Villa’ has been introduced and is set to air in January 2020, however, setbacks have been placed due to the ‘Caroline Flack Assaut’ media debacle.

The Television show will have the same set up as the Summer villa, however, based in Cape Town instead of Spain.

Love Island fans have been very excited on social media for the new show, meaning they’ll be four months of Love Island a year.
